Academy Graduates Star in Historic Macclesfield Triumph

Seven LFE Academy graduates were involved for Macclesfield on Saturday as the National League North side produced one of the biggest upsets in FA Cup history, knocking out current holders Crystal Palace.

Macclesfield took the lead on the stroke of half-time through former Morecambe apprentice Paul Dawson, after the midfielder towered above the Eagles’ defence to power home a bullet header. Isaac Buckley-Ricketts doubled the Silkmen’s lead on the hour mark. Yeremy Pino pulled one back for the visitors in the 90th minute to set up a tense finale, but the non-league outfit held on to book their place in the fourth round.
